From the very beginning Treasures From Greece (TFG) has been driven by a passion for unearthing wines that offer a sense of place, reflecting their precise origins with clarity and authenticity. Our specialist focus is of course Greece where we continue to find exciting, artisan producers in a diverse range of wine producing areas across the mainland and the islands. Many of these wineries carry awards , follow an organic or biodynamic philosophy, are vegan friendly and produce exceptional wines from both ancient indigenous and traditional grape varieties.

Greece has an ancient history in cultivating the vine and is distinguished by its vast array of native grape varieties. It is quite possible that some of the grape varieties grown today are the same as those experienced by participants in classical symposia. From all over the mainland to the sun-drenched islands you will find quality wine in all its manifestations of geographically expressive wines from red, white and rose, to sparkling, sweet and low alcohol wines. Some of the most recognisable varieties include rare local and unique varieties like Syrah, Merlot, Gewurtztraminer, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and many amazing Greek varieties like Malagousia, Aidani, Mavrokoundoura, Assyrtiko, Moshofilero, Agiorgitiko, Savvatiano, Xinomavro, Limnio, and rare varieties like Vidiano, Katsano, Voudomato, Monemvasia, Roditis Aidani, Vilana and Liatiko. And there are far more currently making a resurgence. In Greek wine making territories on north facing slopes and at high altitudes are valued for their cooling effects that retain a freshness and balance in the finished wines. We also share a passion for the great Greek spirits and stock the finest Cretan Tsikoudia, Ouzo, Tsipouro and Mastiha.

Greek wineries are modernising but the wine makers are preserving the age old traditions of viticulture with minimum intervention. We aim to showcase the best wines from these wine makers.
